Si divise in tre grandi diramazioni: la dinastia di Antonello, che ebbero dimora in Cosenza e poi in Catanzaro, passati all'Ordine di Malta come quarti del cav. Soriano; la famiglia baroni di Crima, che aggiunsero al proprio il cognome Acciaioli, residenti in Catanzaro; e la famiglia di Cosenza ed Acri dai quali deriva il ramo detto d'Epamimonda. Un documento, già riportato per i Ferrara del Salernitano, farebbe ritenere che siano gli stessi dei Ferrara di questa regione.
