Famiglia fiorentina tratta 32 volte al Priorato e 10 alla suprema carica di Gonfaloniere della Repubblica. Dette 3 senatori al Principato e un Vescovo alla Chiesa, Gherardo, di Andrea, che resse la diocesi di Pistoia dal 1679 al 1690. Fu ricevuta per giustizia nell'Ordine di Malta nel 1594 con Francesco, di Jacopo, e in quello di S. Stefano Papa e Martire nel 1609 con Girolamo, d'Ippolito. Rinaldo, di Gherardo fu il primo Priore della famiglia, nel 1352; Bernardo di Bartolomeo, il primo Gonfaloniere, nel 1435.
