Di questa antica e nobile famiglia di Monte Sansavino, chiamata originariamente "de Jacomo", si rinvengono sicure notizie in numerosi documenti riguardanti la storia medievale della regione aretina. Da uno di essi, e precisamente da quello che riporta l'importante convenzione stipulatasi il 26 aprile 1222 tra il Popolo ed il Governo di Monte Sansavino, apprendiamo che tra i quindici signori ai quali i Consoli e Consiliari sansavinesi promisero di prestare difesa e di mantenere i beni e ragioni a loro ed eredi, figurano per l'appunto i "de Jacomo" nelle persone di Guglielmo, Tramoto e Bernardo.
