Nobility crown GiamporcaroAntica famiglia siciliana, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia e d'Europa. L'origine di tal cognominizzazione, al dir di illustri genealogisti, andrebbe ricercata nell'unione tra il nome, di matrice provenzale, "Giaume" (= Giacomo) ed il termine arcaico "morcaro", (= colui che lavora la morca), probabilmente, in riferimento ad un, oggi ignoto, capostipite, dai francesi natali. In ogni modo, tal casato venne, verosimilmente, fregiato del cavalierato, in seguito alla partecipazione, connotata da un'elevata maestria d'armi, di un Giancarlo, sotto i vessilli di Carlo I d'Angiò, alla battaglia di Benevento, nel febbraio del 1266. Ma, d'altronde, la famiglia, sempre, riuscì a distinguersi, grazie agli elevati personaggi, a cui diede i natali. Tra questi, senza nulla levar al valore degli omessi, ricordiamo: Martino, regio milite, vivente in Caltanissetta, nel 1498; Francesco, dottore in "utroque jure", giurato in Caltanissetta, vivente nel 1499; Felice, protomedico alla Corte ...
