Nobility crown GimelliCes armes sont à la clé de voûte de la chapelle de Paluel; — celles qui sont sculptées sur la porte d'entrée de la même chapelle, sont: d'azur à quatre cotices d'argent en barres, et une cotice de gueules en bande, brochant sur le tout. Cette maison, de très ancienne chevalerie, de la province du Limousin, où elle est connue et qualifiée, dès le XIIème siècle, du titre de vicomte. Quatre de ses membres sont inscrits dans l'État général des gentilshommes de l'élection de Sarlat, maintenus dans leur noblesse, en 1666, par M. Pellot, intendant de Guienne. Elle à reçu une nouvelle confirmation de noblesse à l'occasion d'un procès au sujet des tailles, soutenu contre la commune de Calviac, par noble Jacques, chevalier, seigneur de Lascours, vicomte de Gimel, seigneur de Fontnoyer, près Sarlat, de Buisson et autres lieux, garde-du-corps du roi, marié, le 30 janvier 1754, avec Suzanne de Saint-Viance (de Philip). Aux États-Généraux de 1789, figure parmi les votants, à Périgueux, dans l'Ordre de la Noblesse: " Haut et puissant seigneur messire noble Jean, écuyer, chevalier, ancien garde-du-corps du roi et son pensionnaire, habitant de la paroisse de Brénac, de Montignac. ...
