Nobility crown GrancheBourgeoisie venue de la Chaise-Dieu, possessionnée à Arlanc. Vital Grangier, né en 1580, établi dès 1619 à Allègre où il mourut en 1651, fut la tige des diverses branches de cette famille. Des notaires royaux; un bailli de Vedières; des baillis de Murs et de Flaghac; plusieurs baillis du marquisat d'Allègre, du début du XVIIIème siècle à 1789. Pierre Grangier (fils de François, seigneur d'Ampilhac, avocat en parlement, bailli d'Allègre et de Claire Boutaud de la Clède), né le 16 décembre 1694, s'établit à Riom où il s'acquit une grande réputation comme avocat à la sénéchaussée d'Auvergne. Il acheta la seigneurie de Vedières, ainsi que la baronnie de Cordès et plusieurs autres terres, et fut anobli par une charge de conseiller-secrétaire du roi, maison et couronne de France. Sa descendance a donné: un capitaine au régiment des Deux-Ponts, maire de ville de Clermont, sous le Ier Empire; un officier dans le régiment de Royal-Roussillon; un chef d'escadron d'état-major: Joseph Grangier, baron de Cordes, aide de camp du maréchal Macdonald, marié le 10 mars 1820 à sa couisine-germaine Anne Grangier de la Motte. Branche de Cordès, éteinte à Allègre, le 20 juin 1893 en la personne d'Ennemond Grangier. ...
