Apellido muy antiguo de la isla de Mallorca, donde ya existía en 1285, pues consta que aquel año, Pedro G., diputado por la villa de Montueri, prestó sacramento y homenaje al rey don Alonso III de Aragón. Igual distinción mereció Salvador G., de la villa de Muro, en 1343, para jurar al rey don Pedro IV de Aragón. Ramón G. fue enviado, en 1350, por la ciudad de Mallorca, en embajada al rey de Aragón. Su nieto, Ramón G., casó con doña Magdalena Dezmur, hija y heredera del doctor Arnaldo Dezmur, jurista. Por este enlace entraron en la casa de G. los vínculos, nombre y blasones de Dezmur. Ramón G. Dezmur, siendo en 1552 capitán a guerra de Valdemosa, peleó valerosamente con sólo treinta y cinco hombres y venció a quinientos turcos que desembarcaron en las costas de aquella villa. Posteriormente, sirvió con una galera propia en las guerras de Túnez y Argel. La familia obtuvo privilegios de nobleza en 1489, concedido por el rey Católico a Pedro G., y en 1556, obtenido por Juan Odón G. Pedro G. de San Jordí fue armado caballero en virtud de real despacho de 18 de julio de 1580, y Antonio G., capitán de caballos y depositario real de Mallorca, mereció igual distinción el 16 de octubre de 1593. Pedro G. y Vives de Cañomas fue regidor perpetuo de la ciudad de Palma por la clase de caballeros y diputado de millones del reino de Mallorca. Su hijo Pedro G., diputado a Cortes por Baleares, poseyó con gravamen de nombre y armas el mayorazgo de Dezmur. ...
