I Monteduranti si cognominarono pure anticamente Guidoni forse perchè due membri di essi, padre e figlio, vissuti verso la fine del XII e in principio del XIII secolo, si chiamarono Guidone, ed assunsero il nuovo nome, che rimase loro, da una montagna del territorio di Terni da essi posseduta.
