Noble linaje vascongado, que tuvo casas en Vizcaya y en Guipúzcoa. En Vizcaya radicaron: Una de las más antiguas, llamada de I., en la anteiglesia de Santa María de Nachitúa, del partido judicial de Guernica; otra, denominada de Insausti, en la anteiglesia de Gática, del partido judicial de Bilbao; otra, también llamada de Insausti, en Durango, y otra con la denominación de Inchaustegui, en la villa de Bilbao. En Guipúzcoa hubo casas de Insausti, en las villas de Azpéitia, Zumárraga, Azcóitia, y Villafranca de Oria. La casa de Inchausti o Inchaustegui, que de estas dos maneras aparece escrito su nombre en la antigüedad, sita desde tiempo immemorial en la anteiglesia de Santa María de Nachitúa, fué en su origen una sola casa, pero a mediados de siglo XVI ya existían dos casas de este nombre, formando Cofradía: Una, la casa de Inchausti de Suso, llamada también Goicoa que quiere decir de arriba, y otra, la casa de Inchausti, de Yuso, conocida también por los nombres de Inchausti Beascoa, que quiere decir de abajo. Ramas nacidas de un mismo tronco, las familias de los poseedores de estas dos casas, siguieron enlazando una con otra, buscando así el que su posesión no saliera de la varonía de su apellido. La falta de los primero libros parroquiales de Nachitúa, debida a un incendio, y la desaparición de los protocolos del siglo XVI,. del Escribano de la organización de la Cofradía y averiguar cuál de las dos casas, fué la primera. ...
