Nobility crown LiniersLa maison de Liniers, d'ancienne chevalerie du Poitou, où elle est connue dès la fin du XIème siècle, établit une filiation depuis Guillaume de Liniers, chevalier, vivant en 1253. Elle a formé trois branches d'où sont sortis grand nombre de sujets distingués dans l'armée de terre et de mer. Qualifiés des titres de marquis, de comte, de vicomte, on les voit soit dans l'Ordre de Malte, soit dans les Pages, soit enfin admis aux honneurs de la Cour. Inutile d'en donner ici la longue nomenclature; quoi qu'il en soit, je citerai néanmoins des chevaliers de Saint-Louis, des commandeurs de la Légion-d'Honneur, un vice-roi de la province de la Plata, un comte de Buenos-Ayres avec donation de 25,000 francs, un attaché d'ambassade à Turin de 1819à 1822, etc. Une branche de cette famille, en possession de la terre et château de Marsalès, (canton de Monpazier), est représentée, en Périgord, par la comtesse de Liniers, née de Constantin, (famille inscrite au n° 222 du 1er voulme de l'Armorial), dont trois fils, Guillaume, Amaury et Hubert, et un petit-fils.
