Nobility crown MallardiAntica famiglia pugliese, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia, con maggiore concentrazione in Toscana, Lombardia e Piemonte. Secondo quanto ci viene tramandato, essa discenderebbe dal nobile casato francese Mallard, la cui blasonatura è riportata nella pregevole opera, del genealogista ed araldista olandese J.B. Rietstap, "Armorial General". Con Carlo d'Angiò, infatti, militava nel 1265, quale capitano d'arme, il nobile Mallard. Dopo la conquista del reame di Napoli questi fu nominato balio e gli vennero dati i feudi del cavaliere di Saldana. Egli inoltre sposò la figlia del conte di Trivento. Successivamente la famiglia italianizzò il nome in Mallardo, divenuto poi Mallardi, come scrisse il de Lellis nel suo libro sulla nobiltà del reame di Napoli, stampato verso il 1663.
