Nasceu na Alemanha, no terceiro quartel do século XVI, um Jakob Meinecken, que veio para Portugal, onde se passou a chamar Diogo M., Menequim ou Minique, e foi língua do porto de Belém e sua torre. Do casamento de sua filha Maria dos Reis com Silvestre de Pina provieram os Pinas Maniques. M. do Intendente domou este nome em virtude de ter sido dado, por Decreto de 11-VII-1791, ao intendente da Polícia Diogo Inácio de Pina M., chamado-se o lugar anteriormente São Pedro de Arrifana.
