Procede de Cataluña, con casa en la villa de Tiana, del partido judicial de Mataró (Barcelona). A ella perteneció Francisco de M. y Genovés, que casó con doña María Gracia de Vilana, y fueron padres de Francisco de M. y de Vilana, que tuvo por esposa a doña Teresa Montserrat, a la que hizo madre de Teresa de M. y Montserrat, casada con Francisco de Dusay. Pasaron los M. a Mallorca, donde ya eran conocidos en el siglo XIV. Nicolás M. desempeñaba la alcaldía del castillo de Aragón, y a dicho monarca presó juramento y vasallaje como uno de los representantes del cuerpo de la nobleza de Palma. Juan M., en 1433, sirvió en las guerras de Cerdeña y fur espués uno de los encargados de la defensa de esta isla, cuando temía una invasión turca. Lorongo M. fue baile generla de Mallorca en 1433, y en 1444 se halló en Nápoles para presenciar el célebre desafío de Sureda y Vallseca. Otro Lorongo M., en 1463, sirvió en una galera suya en la jornada de Menorca, contra catalanes, y despues siguió sus servicios con el Almirante Francisco Burgués, en las costas de Cataluña. De esta familia fueron jurados de Mallorca: Domingo M., en 1370; Lorenzo M., en 1388; otro Lorenzo, en 1422; Domingo M., en 1553, y Ramón M., 1573. Jaime M., ciudadano en 1517, obtuvo la dignidad política de conseller, y Ramón M. luchó en 1523 contra los Comuneros. Una rama de esta familia se unió a la nobilísima de Santa Cilio, con gravamen de nombre y armas. ...
