Ancienne chevalerie dont le nom est aussi écrit Dalmas et qui fut surnommés à l'origine Falcon. Elle a pour tige, noble Hugues Falcon vivant à Olliergues en Auvergne dès 1195. Etablie avant 1250, près Coubon en Velay, avec deux fils de Hugues: l'un Jean fixé au Mas de Poinsac en retint le nom; l'autre au Moulin de Giry, fut la tige des Falcon de Moly ou du Moulin. Hugues II Delmas seigneur de Poinsac, se fit authoriser par le seigneur de Solignac, son suzerain, à bâtir une maison forte au lieu d'Archinaud, dans la première moitié du XIIIème siècle. Hugues III Delmas, épousa en 1286, Guicharde de Chapteuil-Bonneville. Leur fils Guilhaume, qualifié chevalier, s'allia en 1327, à sa cousine Catherine, fille et héritière de Raymond Falcon du Moulin. Il rendit hommage de ses fiefs à Béraud seigneur de Solignac (1325-1335). Raymond Delmas de Poinsac qui leur succéda en 1388, fit hommage le 24 août de la même année à Randon Armand X vicomte de Polignac et baron de Solignac sur Loire. L'année suivante (1389), il fut autorisé par le vicomte "à faire audit Poinsac maison forte en la même forme qu'estoit sa maison d'Archinaud" et laissa entre autres enfants de Catherine de Montagut: Guillaume III Delmas de Poinsac allié en 1404 à Vidalle de Séneujols, dont Isabeau l'une des filles, héritière de sa maison, épousa le 19 août 1437 Déodat dit Dandonnet Eyrail ou d'Hérail écuyer, fils de Jean d'Hérail de Lugan seigneur de Fugères et du Cros, à la condition par ledit Eyrail d'adopter le nom et les armes de Poinsac. On trouve aussi sous ce nom: des chanoines de N.-D. du Puy dont Guillaume Delmas de Ponsac, vicaire-général du diocèse en 1298; des hommes d'armes. ...
