Nobility crown MasettaAncient and noble Italian family, known as Masetta or della Masetta, of clear and ancestral virtue, that has worldwide spread, over the centuries. Tradition has it that the progenitor of this noble family is a Martino Bernardini from San Sepolcro, golden knight, to whom Guido Ubaldo I, Duke of Urbino, with a diploma September 22, 1503, granted him and his successors in perpetuity the lordship of della Massa with the villas of Pagno, Tivo and Casalecchio; lordship which was then exercised by the Masetta family with count title. From this investiture the family began to be known first as della Massa and finally as della Masetta. Over time this custom became so general that the feudal predicate ended up replacing the original surname.
