Nobility crown MazaBachelin-Deflorenne nous apprend que cette famille serait originaire du Dauphiné, où, d'après cet auteur, on la trouverait dès 1400 et, en Languedoc, vers 1500. Deydier, dans son manuscrit, nous dit qu'elle sort d'Antraigues, et le Vicomte de Montravel le fait sortir de Thueyts, d'où elle passa à Chassiers. Elle est qualifiée de seigneurs de Martinent, puis de Lavernade, par achat de ce château fait à Jean-Baptiste de Flotte, donataire d'Anne de Lavernade. Noble Michel paya, le 21 mai 1650, à Monseigneur de Suze, évêque de Viviers, des lods pour l'achat du château de Lavernade. Il avait épousé, en 1646, Gabrielle de Montvillard, dont il eut de nombreux enfants. Les Mazade furent qualifiés de seigneurs de Lavernade jusqu'à la mort de Louis-Augustin de Mazade, mort à Lavernade, en 1807, ne laissant qu'une fille, Adélaïde-Félicité, qui épousa, en 1798, René Ladreyt de La Charrière, décédé en 1845. Adélaïde-Félicité avait été inhumée au covent de Largentière, le 13 mars 1844. Louis-Augustin avait épousé Marianne-Augustine de Bellidentis de Bains. Vers le milieu du XVIIème siècle, noble César Mazade, sieur de Combescure, d'Antraigues, épousa damoiselle Louise de Gaude, fille de sieur Jacques, bailli de Chadenac, paroisse de Thueyts. Louis de Mazade, du lieu et paroisse de Chassiers, fut condamné par défaut, lors des recherches contre les usurpateurs des tirtres de noblesse, le 7 mars 1699. M. A. Le Sourd nous apprend que Jean du Four dit Mazades vivait à Antraigues, en 1425. Etienne Mazade, fils d'Antoine et de Cécile Feugeyron, habitait au même lieu, en 1513, et qu'en 1544, Etienne Mazade, d'Antraigues, était dit frère de M. Louis Mazade, établi à Toulouse. En 1557, Pierre Mazade est dit hôte à Antraigues. En 1613, Louis Mazade, sieur du Martinent, est dit seigneur d'Antrigues. ...
