Nobility crown MelfaAntica ed illustre famiglia napoletana, passata a risiedere in Sicilia, con un Antonio-Francesco, il quale, al dir di autorevoli genealogisti, ebbe la carica di capitan d'armi a guerra in Scicli, nel 1456. Francesco, regio luogotenente nell'Ufficio del maestro secreto, con privilegio del 26 aprile 1572, ottenne il titolo di regio cavaliere (la famiglia sostiene che egli stesso abbia posseduto i feudi Giarrentini e quello della Marina di Scicli e che, con privilegio del 28 gennaio esecutoriato il 26 aprile 1572, abbia avuto concessione del titolo di barone di S. Antonino) e fu proconservatore in Scicli nel 1588. La medesima carica ebbe un Niccolò, negli anni 1575, 1586. Santoro Melfa, invece, fu francescano e missionario nelle Indie 1692; altro Francesco, figlio di Giambattista, il 15 agosto 1660, in occasione del matrimonio da lui contratto con Giovanna Maria Caterina Mulè, si trasferì in Chiaramonte Gulfi, dove un Giovan Battista, fu capitano di ...
