Gontinha, de quem teve Paio Pires de Guimarães, senhor da casa e fazenda paterna em Riba de Vizela, o qual se recebeu com D. Elvira Fernandes, filha de Fernão Pires Tinhoso, Copeiro-mor de D. Afonso Henriques, e foi pai de D. Reimando Pais de Riba de Vizela, que sucedeu na casa do pai e foi pai de D. Soeiro Reimondes, esforçado cavaleiro, que parece ser o fundador da vila de Mello ou Melo, na serra da Estrela. D. Soeiro casou com D. Urraca Viegas, filha de D. Egas Gomes Barros e de sua mulher, D. Urraca Vasques de Ambia, de quem teve, entre outros filhos, a D. Mem Soares de Melo, senhor da casa paterna, de Melo e de Gouveia, Rico-Homem e Alferes-Mor de D. Afonso III, com quem esteve na tomada de Faro. Dele provêm os Mellos, Senhores da Vila de Mello, e depois Condes de Melo e de Vila Real, hoje Condes de Mangualde, os Alvares Pereira de Melo, Condes de Tentugal, depois Duques de Cadaval, os Mello Breyner, Marqueses de Ficalho e Condes de Mafra, os Melo da Silva César de Menezes, Condes de S.Lourenço, depois marqueses de Sabugosa, os Mello e Castro, Condes das Galveias, e outras ilustres famílias.Timbre: uma águia estendida de negro, basante de prata. ...
