Nobility crown Merlhie De La GrangeSous le nom de Georges Merlhie de la Grange, avocat au parlement de Bordeaux, puis au présidial de Périgueux, M. Philippe de Bosredon, dans sa "Sigillographie", en décrit les armes attachées à un testament du 1er octobre 1782. Armes parlantes également apposées sur un autre testament de 1789. On y voix deux merles affrontées, accompagnés de deux étoiles posées au chef de l'écu. Ce sont ces dernières qui doivent être substituées à celles ci-dessus, car pour l'Armorial de France de d'Hozier, les armes, souvent imposées d'office, sont loin de faire foi. Dans le registre de la paroisse de Saint-Sylain de Périgueux, on voit que Jeanne-Marguerite Merlhie de la Grange, fille de messire Georges Merlhie, écuyer, seigneur de la Grange, conseiller du Roi, assesseur en la maréchaussée générale de Guienne au département du Périgord, et de Jeanne Moreau, épousa, le 4 juin 1789, messire Bernard-Charles-Joseph Chabaneix, seigneur du Chambon, lieutenant assesseur au sénéchal et présidial de Périgueux, fille de Guillaume de Chabaneix du Chambon et de dame Marie Madeleine de Monteil.
