Credesi capostipite comune un Giovanni Antonio, cavaliere Gerosolimitano, nato nel 1472 e morto nel 1558. A Bergamo la famiglia era nota dalla seconda metà del 1300. Da Bergamo si trasferì a Roma ove viene ricordato Giov. Battista, Prelato di Segnatura e Votante, vissuto nel 1600. Questo ramo si estinse a metà del 1700; e la famiglia ebbe sepolcro nella Chiesa di Ara-Coeli. Il ramo di Ancona discende in linea retta da Antonio, Nobile di Spalato, vissuto verso la fine del 1500. Da lui ne venne Pietro che nel 1660 ebbe due figli: Francesco e Giuseppe o Iseppo. Tutti, padre e figli, furono prodi guerrieri in Dalmazia, e in Albania contro i Turchi per la Repubblica Veneta.
