Antica e nobile famiglia umbra, oriunda da Urbino ma passata poi in Foligno ed in Spello, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia, con insediamenti più cospicui nel Lazio e, più precisamente, in Castel San Pietro e, nel primo '900, in Cesano. Proprio in Cesano la famiglia Mocci si imparentò con i notabili Fracassa, più volte Priori di Cesano, per via del matrimonio di Vincenzo Mocci con Petronilla Fracassa. Secondo alcune ricostruzioni araldiche, la famiglia potrebbe avere origini catalane e, pertanto, potrebbe essere della stessa agnazione dei Mocci fioriti in Sardegna.
