Nobility crown MonteilJean, avocat au Parlement de Bordeaux, conseiller, élu en l'élection de Périgueux, pendant 40 ans, fut anobli par lettres patentes de décembre 1661, en récompense de son dévouement à la religion catholique et à la royauté. Son fils Simon François, obtint, en août 1674, des lettres patentes de confirmation de noblesse. De son mariage avec demoiselle Marguerite de Fayolle, provint, entre autres enfants, demoiselle Marguerite, laquelle épousa, le 22 octobre 1699, messire Félix de Gontaud, de Saint-Geniez, chevalier, seigneur de Saint-Cirq. Parmi les nobles parents et amis qui figurent au contrat - c'est ainsi qu'ils y sont désignés - on voit le nom de du Monteil-Lagrèze. Evidemment c'est un des ascendants de feu M. du Monteil de Lagrèze, procureur du Roi sous le gouvernement de Louis-Philippe 1er. La famille Monteil compte des officiers, des magistrats et quatre archiprêtres de Vanxains. Elle est représentées dans l'Ordre de la Noblesse, aux États-Généraux de 1789, par messire Léonard-Guillaume, écuyer, chevalier, seigneur du Maine-du-Bost, habitant du dit lieu; et par messire René, chevalier, seigneur de Douzillac, habitant du lieu de Fayolle, paroisse de Villetoureix et également par dame Marie-Magdeleine, veuve de messire Guillaume de Chabaneix, seigneur du Chambon, laquelle vota par procuration donnée par elle à messire Antoine de Malet-du-Pont, chevalier, habitant de la ville de Lille. La famille de Monteuil est aujourd'hui représentée en Périgord , par Marie-Xavier, né le 25 août 1861, fils de François-Louis Monteil et de Marie Françoise-Thérèse de Marcellus et par plusieurs filles, dont l'une mariée à Georges-Louis-Camille comte de Mirandol, et l'autre, à Eugéne de Bodard de la Jacopière. ...
