La casa solar infanzona de M. se halla sita en el lugar de Montiano (cuyo nombre tomó), del Ayuntamiento del Valle de Mena y partido de Villarcayo (Burgos). Dicho lugar perteneció primeramente a Vizcaya, y al ser incorporado luego a Castilla, los individuos de este linaje pasaron a Bilbao y a otras villas de Señorío. A la mencionada casa solar infansona pertenecieron siempre los mayorazgos de M., Basagoiti, Lezamiz, Landaverde y Arrizubiagajáuregui, y el patronato del convento de Agustinas de la villa de Arciniega, en las Encartaciones, fundado por Pedro Ruiz de M. Por el mayorazgo de Basagoiti, poseía la Torre de Basagoiti en Berango, anteiglesia del partido de Bilbao, cuyas ruinas aún se conservan. Allí radicó el primitivo solar de los Basagoiti. También fué del linaje que nos ocupa la Torre de Uriarte, de la misma anteiglesia de Berango, y el lugar de Arrizubiagajáuregui. Disfrutó de los diezmos divisiores ...
