Un ramo risulta fiorente a Firenze fin dal secolo XII, epoca in cui un Paolo Moscardo diede origine alla nobile Casata degli Spini. I M. o Moscardi ressero il Priorato di Firenze nel 1325 e nel 1328. Il ceppo veronese fu illustato da Boruzzo, Giudice al tempo di Ezzelino, e da Moscardo che ebbe in moglie Verde della Scala; Giacomo sp. Margherita della Scala. Nel 1479 i membri della famiglia furono aggregati al Nobile Consiglio di Verona che rappresenta l'espressione più genuina della purità del sangue e dell'antichità della Casa.
