In vecchie genealogie della famiglia, (presso il nob. avv. Giulio in Oderzo) figura capostipite un Trusolino da Polcenigo, il figlio del quale Bartolomeo è contrassegnato dall'indicazione "in istrumento 1379". Un Bertholussius nipote del precedente vi è detto "de Canipa (Caneva di Sacile), habitator Sacilli, in istrumento 1394". L'aggregazione della famiglia al Consiglio nobile di Sacile seguì il 16 aprile 1573 nella persona di un ser Jacopo progenitore della linea ancor fiorente. La parte del Consiglio relativa all'aggregazione dice esser "gli Ovii sempre stata gente da bene et antiquissimi di questa terra". Va ricordato che alcuni anni prima, in una nota riguardante una deliberazione del Consiglio sacilese, è nominato un ser Tiberio Ovio "civis noster", il che farebbe pensare ad una precedente aggregazione.
