Come discendente da Andrea di Michele, anziano della Repubblica Pisana nell'anno 1397, Giovan Federigo di Sebastiano fu ascritto al patriziato di Pisa con decreto della R. Deputazione sulla nobiltà toscana del 23 settembre 1754. Vestirono per giustizia l'abito di S.Stefano nel 1628, ordine fondato da Cosimo I de' Medici il 15 marzo del 1562, ad imitazione di quello Gerosolimitano, col duplice scopo di difendere nel Mar Tirreno il commercio d'Italia dalle piraterie barbaresche, e di liberare i Cristiani dalla schiavitù della potenza ottomana.
