Linaje de Vizcaya, con casas en la antigua Merindad de Arratia. De una de esas casas procedió la familia apellidada Ocerin-Jáuregui. Pedro de O. y Jáuregui, vecino de Durango, litigó, en 1674, con doña Angela de Goitia y con José de Ardanza, un mayorazgo fundado en 1626 por Nicolás de Urduya y su mujer doña Marina Sáenz de Yurreta. El tratadista Arévalo dice que en la anteiglesia de Ceánuri, perteneciente a la misma Merindad y partido judicial de Durango, hubo tres casas de O., sin que ninguna de ellas tuvieron parentesco con esa de Ocerin-Járuregui, usando también distintas armas.
