En Guipúzcoa y en Vizcaya. Es linaje muy antiguo y de notoria hidalguía. En Guipúzcoa tuvo casa solariega en la anteiglesia de Urbarri, perteneciente al Ayuntamiento de Mondragón y partido judicial de Vergara. Era una de las mejores caserías de la comarca y tenía capilla propia en la parroquia de Uribarril. En Vizcaya hubo casas de esta familia en la anteiglesia de Arriega, del partido judicial de Guernica y Luno, y en la de Gática, del partido de Bilbao. La anteiglesia de Arrieta tiene un barrio denominado Oleaga, cuyo nombre está, sin duda alguna, relacionado con este apellido. Los O. del solar de la anteiglesia de Uribarri pasaron a Mondragón en tiempos antiguos, quedando allí establecidos. Pedro Pérez de O. era vecino de dicha villa de Mondragón, en 1342; Pedro Ibáñez de O., en 1353; Juan Ibáñez de O., Escribano, en 1429; Juan Pérez de O. y Juan Ibáñez de O., en 1461, y San Juan y Juan de O., en 1530. Es lo más probable que estos Oleagas, según acusa el orden de fechas en que aparecen empadronados, fuesen descendientes directos unos de otros; pero la filiación continuada y comprobada de esta familia originaria de la casa solar de la anteiglesia de Uribarri y establecida en la villa de Mondragón, es la siguiente: Juan de O., Señor de la casa de su apellido en Uribarri por los años de 1530, casó dos veces: la primera, con doña Ana de Ugalde, y la segunda, con doña María Pérez de Mitarte. Del primer matrimonio nacieron: Juan de O. y Ugalde, y Catalina de O. y Ugalde. ...
