Les armes de cette maison sont données dans la Grand Armorial de France (registre de Périgueux): d'or à un cerf passant de sable, surmonté de trois croisettes de même posées 2 et 1, sous le nom de Jean Orfaure, curé de Limeyrac, en 1700. Et sur un cachet que M. Orfaure de Tantaloup, officier au 2me hussards, cachet qu'il tient de son père - les armes sont: écartelé, aux 1 et 4, de... à une bande de ... au dessus de laquelle passe un loup - peut-être armes parlantes - ou plus vraisemblablement un cerf qui est une pièce importante de l'écu du curé de Limayrac, eu bien le lion qui se voit sur le testament rappelé plus haut; et aux 2 et 3, de .... à un soleil à dextre du chef de...., et sept larmes posées 2, 2 et 3 à sénestre. Les dernières figurent sur le testament, du 18 juillet 1701, de Germain Orfaure, docteur en médecine, marié avec Jeanne Massoubre. Dans la liste des maires de Périgueux, on voit, de 1770 à 1779, François Orfaure. Le 3 juin 1659, un docteur en médecine du nom de Guillaume Orfaure passe une transaction avec Pierre de Froidefond, écuyer, sieur des Farges. En 1762, parmi les officiers qui doivent monter la garde dans la ville de Périgueux, figure en qualité de 1er lieutenant, Orfaure fils ainé; il est dit, dans cette pièce imprimée: "Sont compris parmi les officiers ceux qui sont pourvus de lettres de bourgeoisie à Périgueux". Un Raymond Orfaure, sieur de Tantalou, est qualifié Noble citoyen de la ville de Périgueux. Les armes ici décrites se voient sur une empreinte en cire qui scelle un testament mystique de Marguerite Orfaure, veuve du sieur Chabanier, avocat, en date du 17 janvier 1719. ...
