Compiled information from Historical and Private archive's has confirmed that the surname 'Parker' and or it's variant's, dates as far back has been established for many centuries in Lancashire, England. 'John Parcar', from the County of Dorset, England, is recorded on the Hundred Rolls in 1273. Brownsholme Hall, near Clithero was first built by 'Richard le Parker' in 1380, and is still the family seat , another well known family are established in Cheshire, England where their ancestors were keepers of a Royal Park.The name 'Parker' is very widespread. The exact period of settlement in North America has not been definately determined but Information extracted from Public and Civil registry archive's confirm that one of the first settlers was a certain 'William Parker', aged 31, a farmer by trade, from the County of Yorkshire, England. He sailed from the Port of Hull on the28th of February 1774 arriving in Nova Scotia on the 7th of March 1774, after his landlord had raised his rent too high. He travelled with his wife, 'Mary Parker', aged 38, and his three year old son 'John Parker', seeking a better livelihood. 'Proffesor Walter Huntingdon Parker', of Minneapolis, Minnesota, was the Proffessor of Mining, and Head of the School of Mines at the University of Minnesota.
