Giovan Battista. Altro ramo. Antica ed illustre famiglia abruzzese, di chiara ed avita virtù, propagatasi, nel corso dei secoli, in diverse regioni d'Italia, con il maggiore insediamento in Umbria. La casata è sorta dall'unione, probabilmente per via matrimoniale, di rami collaterali di due nobili famiglie siciliane, di cui ci apprestiamo a trattare. La casata Pilo o Pelosi vuolsi sia stata portata da Genova in Sicilia, sul calar del secolo decimo sesto, da un Bartolomeo, di Gio. Battista. La casata è però originaria di Spagna.
