Famiglia originaria da Genova, dove, nel 1528, fu aggregata a quel patriziato; si trasferì in Lecce e vi godette nobiltà. Con Sovrano Privilegio, dell'11 novembre 1719, fu decorata del titolo di duca sul feudo di Castù Guarino, che già possedeva, titolo passato, di poi in altra famiglia. Ricevuta, per giustizia, nell'Ordine Costantiniano, provò ancora la sua nobiltà generosa per l'ammissione alle RR. Guardie del Corpo, nel 1849, come quarto del signor Carlo Guarini. Appartenne a questa famiglia la venerabile Battista. Achille, attuale rappresentante della famiglia, adottato dal suo congiunto duca di Morciano Sigismondo Castromediano di Lymburg con sentenza del Tribunale di Trani ne aggiunse il cognome, e suole inquartarne le armi.
