El capitán Fernando de Pina asistió a la conquista de Mallorca con don Jaime I, siendo uno de los primeros en entrar en la ciudad. Algunos de sus descendientes se dice que variaron el vocablo de Pina en P. Otros escriben que el apellido P. es el mismo que Pinar, asignándoles las mismas armas que a éste.
