Originaria patrizia amalfitana a cui appartenne Pantaleone, vescovo di Ravello. Giordano, figlio di una Conti romana, fu creato da Urbano IV nel 1262 cardinale dal titolo dei SS. Cosmo e Damiano: fu cancelliere di S.R.C. e morì nel 1296. Un Mauro di Ravello fu il collettore del denaro fiscale presso il giustiziere di Sicilia. Questa famiglia da antico tempo fu annoverata fra quelle dei nobili fuori Seggio della città di Napoli, dove aveva presa dimora e per cui dovette venire reintegrata al patriziato di Ravello nel 1667.
