Antica famiglia pistoiese, di chiara e provata nobiltà, detta Pistoia o Pistoi, diramatasi anche in Fiesole, Barga ed in Catanzaro. A questo ramo appartenne Giovanni, cavaliere di Malta nel 1578. La Magistratura civica di Fiesole, invece, con partito del 18 gennaio 1839, propose l'ascrizione al ceto nobile di quella città dei fratelli Giuseppe, Francesco e Giovacchino, di Francesco, tutti e tre impiegati molto decorosamente nella pubblica amministrazione. La proposta fu accolta con rescritto sovrano del 14 giugno 1839. Con altro rescritto sovrano del 1° marzo 1844, i medesimi furono ascritti alla nobiltà di Pistoia, in seguito a proposta della Magistratura di quella città del 23 gennaio di detto anno.
