Nobility crown PoiteuxL'une des plus illustres et puissantes familles du Dauphiné et même de France, issue de Guillaume, né en 1115, marié à la fille unique d'Izarn, comte de Die. On le croit fils naturel de Guillaume IX, comte de Poitiers et duc d'Aquitaine. Considérablement possessionnée au XIIIème siècle en Vivarais, puis en Velay, par le mariage vers 1229 d'Aymar de Poitiers avec Philippa de Fay. L'un de leurs descendants: Guillaume épousa, le 4 septembre 1293, Luce de Beaudiner dame de Cornillon en Forez. Quelques années plus tard (1333 environ) Polie, veuve du comte de Dammartin, s'allia à Armand VII, vicomte de Polignac, qui déjà d'un âge avancé lui fit donation, en 1337, de ses terres de Saint-Paulien et de Ceyssac qu'elle échangea, dans la suite, avec les héritiers de son mari contre les baronnies de Bouzols et de Servissas, lesquelles passèrent ainsi aux de Poitiers. Au XVème siècle, Anne de Montlaur, fille de Louis et de Marguerite de Polignac, apporta une partie des biens de sa maison, (dont la seigneurie de Saint-Privat-d'Allier, la baronnie d'Arlempdes et ses dépendances, etc.), à son mari Charles Poitiers de Valentinois, signeur de St-Vallier. Jean, comte de Saint-Vallier, baron d'Arlempdes, etc. marié à Jeanne de Batarnay, fut le père d la célèbre Diane de Poitiers-Saint-Vallier, duchesse de Valentinois, baronne d'Arlempdes en Velay. De grands personnages; des gouverneurs de provinces et de places fortes; des chavaliers de l'ordre du roi; de nombreux prélats, dont quatre évêques de Viviers (1306-1454); des abbés de monastères; un doyen de l'église du Puy: Henri de Poitiers (1349), etc. Grandes alliances. ...
