Nobility crown PompadourIllustre et antique maison du Limousin dont le nom patronimyque était Hélie et qui remonte sa filiation suivie à Geoffroy Hélie, seigneur de Ségur, vivant en 1179. Ses descendants qualifiés seigneurs, vicomtes, puis marquis de Pompadour, vicomtes de Comborn, barons de Mières, d'Arnac, de Chanac, etc. après avoir contracté de grandes alliances, produit plusieurs évêques et abbés de divers monastères, des conseillers et chambellans de nos rois, des gouverneurs et lieutenants-généraux du Haut et Bas-Limousin, un maréchal de camp (1622), etc., se sont éteints au début du XVIIIème siècle. Geoffroy, fils puîné de Golfier, seigneur de Pompadour et d'Isabelle, vicomtesse de Comborn, successivament grand-vicaire d'Evreux, archidiacre de Viviers, chanoine-comte et prévôt du noble chapitre de lyon (1460), abbé de Chancellade, premier président en la chambre des comptes de Paris, évêque d'Angoulême (1465), fut élevé en 1480, sur le siège épiscopal de Périgueux. Accusé peu après, d'avoir pris part au complot du duc d'Orléans contre le roi Charles VIII, ce prélat fut arrêté, mais, parvenu à se justifier, il fut transferé le 15 juillet 1486, de l'évêché de Périgueux à celui du Puy et devint dans la suite grand aumônier de France. Il mourut à Paris le 8 mai 1514. ...
