Recebeu-se com Brites Soares, senhora da casa da Rua do Souto, em P. do Lima e da quinta de Barreiros, de quem teve: Fernão Gonçalves P., escudeiro-fidalgo casado com Catarina Ledo, filha de Álvaro Fernandes Ledo da qual deixou geração, que seguiu o apelido de Ledo; Diogo da P., fidalgo da Casa Real, casado com Constança Malheiro que teve com dote oteinta mil reais brancos, filha de Lopo Dias Malherio e de sua mulher D. Constança Afonso, com geração, do apelido Malherio; Pedro da P. criado do rei D. João II, sem geração; e Estêvão Rodrigues P., com geração. Parece que o apelido tomou a forma pluralizada pois os que se denomina Pontes usam as mesmas armas. O solar desta família é no Vale de Salzedo, na vila de Vale de Maceda e se diz proceder de Sancho Peres, que defendeu a ponte de rio Orbito, que um famoso capitão, mouro pretendia atravesar e ao qual cortou a cabeça. Conforme certos autores, passou também, a Portugal, no reinado de D. Fernando I, na pessao de Pedro da P., filhao de Diogo Anes de P., que se estabeleceu no Minho, donde seus netos forma para Elvas. ...
