Bonne bourgeoisie, établie au Puy au XVIème siècle avec Claude Porral, médecin de la reine Marguerite de Navarre, qualifié noble dans un brevet de 1577. Il fut délégué par les ligueurs du Puy auprès du roi Henry IV (1595), devint 1er consul du Puy en 1618 et testa en 1629. Augustin, son fils, docteur en médecine, 1er consul en 1635, épousa Madeleine de Mialhet. Autre Augustin Porral, bourgeois, deuxième consul du Puy en 1700, inscrit dans d'Hozier, fut l'auteur de trois branches : l'aînée alliee aux de Molette de Morangiès et aux de Chardon des Roys, s'est fondue dans les de Lussigny; la seconde, dite Porral d'Hurtes, qui a pour tige: noble Jean-Antoine Porral seigneur d'Hurtes, 1er consul du Puy en 1741, s'est éteinte au XIXème siècle; la troisième dite de St-Vidal, existante à Bordeaux, remonte à noble Louis-Augustin Porral, né en 1704, allié en 1736 à Anne Portal: Par contrat passé au Puy le 21 mai 1765, ce dernier acheta à Pierre-Joseph de Rochefort de La Tour St-Vidal marquis d'Ally, les terres et seigneuries de St-Vidal et de Blanzac, sous la réserve du titre de baron des Etats du Velay que le vendeur retint et fit porter sur les terres du Thiolent et de Vergezac.
