Este apellido, uno de los más ilustres que se establecieron en Tenerife, es originario de Cádiz, donde sus miembros disfrutaron de las prerrogativas inherentes a su calidad de Caballeros Hijosdalgo desde el siglo XVI, con casas blasonadas y enterramientos en la Catedral. Es el mismo de "Chirino". Su más remoto antepasado fue Hernando Chirino, hermano del Capitán Alonso Chirino, que estuvo casado con Elvira Ferrer, siendo su sucesor Cristóbal Chirino, Regisor de Cádiz. Un bisnieto del anterior, Don Juan Chirino y Sandoval, nacido en Cádiz, se trasladó a la isla de Cuba estableciéndose en La Habana, de cuya capital fue Regidor y Procurador General en 1601. Alcalde ordinario en 1599 y Teniente de Alguacil Mayor en 18 de enero de 1630. Sus descendientes ocuparon importantes cargos en la sociedad cubana. Don Juan Tadeo Chirino Van de Walle Rojas y Sandoval era nieto de Don Alonso Chirino de Henestrosa Rojas Herrera y Sandoval y de su legítima esposa Doña Dorotea Van de Walle Aguiar Cervellón y Stotolongo, hija del capitán Don Nicolás Van de Walle Aguiar Cervellón, Castellano de las fortalezas de La Palma. Nació Juan Tadeo en La Habana el 28 de noviembre de 1695, estableciéndose en Tenerife, para dar cumplimiento a la imposición que le fue conferida para el disfrute del Mayorazgo fundado por doña Magdalena Franiel, II Marquesa de la Fuente de Las Palmas. Unióse en matrimonio con Doña Isabel del Sacramento de Ascanio y Pacheco-Solís, nacida en La Laguna el 30 de junio de 1696. ...
