Dal primo, in linea retta, discende l'attuale famiglia, il cui nome fu illustrato dal celebre medico, fisico e naturalista Bernardino di Bartolomeo. Altro Bartolomeo, di Antonio, nipote ex fratre di Bernardino,fu pure medico assai reputato e scrisse in latino una elaborata vita delo zio illustre; ebbe per moglie Cristina Muratori, sorella del sommo storico, dalla quale ebbe fra gli altri il dottor Giuseppe, medico anch'esso distintissimo, autore di varie opere di medicina, morto in Modena l'anno 1773.
