Famiglia originaria di Napoli, che ebbe investiture feudali nel Molise, nel sec. XVIII, ed in Abruzzo, ove pose dimora in Roccaraso. Dai Cedolari di detta regione, risulta che, il 28 aprile 1722, un Lorenzo, per morte della sua genitrice Agata Rosaria Floriano, avvenuta nel 1718, ottenne l'intestazione del feudo di Montemiglio o Valle di Montemiglio, che rimase nella propria famiglia sino all'abolizione della feudalità. Gli Rangeloni possedettero anche una parte del feudo di Varallo o Varavallo. Per effetto di tali possedimenti, la famiglia venne riconosciuta, nel 1881, nel titolo di barone di Montemiglio e Varavallo, per i maschi primogeniti. Sono iscritti nell'Elenco ufficiale nobiliare nonché nel Libro d'oro della nobiltà italiana, Girolamo, di Giuseppe, di Girolamo coi fratelli: Maria Giuseppa, Emilio, Anna Diletta, Elisabetta, Vittorio.
