Nobility crown RegisAntique bourgeoisie issue de Jean Regis ou de Regis, cité dans deux actes du 8 octobre 1396 et 17 août 1400, coservés dans les archives de Lagrasse, localité voisine de Fontcouverte près Narbonne. Autre Jean est notaire de Lagrasse en 1454. Pierre, possessionné à Lagrasse et à Fontcouverte en 1537, laissa: Jean dont le fils: Pierre, fut tué au siège de Villemur, et Antoine, avocat en la cour du sénéchal de Carcassonne, marié vers 1550 à Marie d'Esplas de Martrin (vieille noblesse du Rouergue connue dès 1349). De cette union deux fils: I° noble Barthélemy, gendarme de la Chevalerie du maréchal de Joyeuse (1587); 2° noble Jean de Regis, coseigneur de Fontcouverte, capitaine pour la Ligue (1586). Ce dernier épousa en premières noces, le 16 septembre 1576, Marguerite de Cucugnan (fille de François, seigneur de Camplong et de Catherine du Ferrier), et en secondes noces Madeleine d'Arses que plusieurs auteurs ont dit par erreur avoir été la mère de St-François issu au contraire du premier mariage. Ce saint personnage, surnommé l'Apôtre du Velay et du Vivarais est la plus grande illustartion de cette famille. Né au château de Fontcouverte le 31 janvier 1597, il entra dans l'ordre des jésuites (1616), enseigna les humanités au Puy de 1625 à 1627, où il se signala dans la suite par son immense charité, évangélisa les pays protestants du Languedoc, Vivarais et Velay, et mourut, victime de son zèle, le 31 décembre 1640, à La Louvesc (Ardèche) où son tombeau est l'object d'un célèbre pélerinage. Plusieurs officiers, l'un d'eux tué à l'ennemi. Éteinte le 14 avril 1760, avec Dorothée de Regis, veuve de Marc-Antoine de Cominian de Blomac, seigneur de Saint-Rome. ...
