Famiglia originaria di Lombardia ed ascritta alla nobiltà cremonese. Un Bernardino, acquistando beni nella campagna romana, trasferì la famiglia in Roma. Dette illustri prelati alla Chiesa. Ciriaco, monsignore, prelato sapiente e stimatissimo, seppe cattivarsi la protezione pontificia, si che nel 1624 fu inviato vice-legato a Ferrara, poi nunzio a Vienna col titolo di arcivescovo di Patrasso e nel 1634 fu dal papa Urbano VIII creato cardinale col titolo di S. Salvatore in Lauro e nel 1638 andò legato a Ferrara; morì a Roma il 25 sett. 1651. Un suo nipote, Bernardino, fu maggiordomo di papa Clemente X, che il 27 maggio 1675, lo creò cardinale e fu poi vescovo di Orvieto, morì a Frascati il 3 nov. 1680 nell'età di anni 54 e, per usa disposizione testamentaria, fu sepolto nell'Abazia di Grottafferrata.
