Los sucesores del conde Pero R. firmaron cartas y privilegios de los reyes Don Alonso V, Don Bermudo III y Don Fernando I, como aparece en las colecciones de fueros recientemente publicados por la Real Academia de la Historia. Sancho R. se halló en 1212, siendo rico-home del rey Don Alonso de Leon, de su consejo y su cazador mayor, en la memorable batalla dada a los moros en las Navas de Tolosa, donde se lució tambien su hijo primogénito Rui Froilaz R. a los caballeros de este linaje se debió la conquista de las Islas Canarias, con cuyo motivo obtuvieron en ellas la alta dignidad de adelantados mayores, y la de otra isla que nombraron de Santa Marta por ser esta la patrona de Ortigueira, su patria. Del mérito y estraordinario saber y virtud del eminentísimo señor Don Eduardo R., cardenal presbítero de la santa romana iglesia, hacen merecidos elogios los autores eclesiásticos. De Don Antonio R.
