Filiation: Jacques Romeuf, bourgeois de la Voûte, marié à Anne Hugon, père de Barthélemy, notaire royal, bailli de la Voûte en 1732, marié à Antoinette Marin, d'où: Anne, épouse d'Antoine Jurie, seigneur de Vergonghon, bailli de la ville et prévôté royale d'Auzon, et Claude Romeuf, notaire royal, bailli de la Voûte, marié le 13 janvier 1720 à Marguerite Croze de Montbrizet. Leur fils, Barthélemy, notaire royal, bailli de l'abbaye de la Voûte, acquit avant 1789 la seigneurie de la Valette près Chastel. Il fut député du Tiers à l'assemblée provinciale d'Auvergne le 14 août 1787, maire de la Voûte (1793), et épousa Marie Borel de Montchavel. Deux de ses fils, d'abord aides de camp du général de La Fayette, devinrent généraux de brigade. L'un d'eux, Louis, né en 1766, baron de l'Empire (3 mai 1810), commandeur de la Légion d'honneur, fut tué à la Moskowa, sans alliance. Le second: Alexandre, né en 1772, maréchal de camp, confirmé dans le titre de baron le 16 juin 1818, commandeur de la Légion d'honneur, épousa Mélanie Gosselin de Sainctème, d'où postérité existante en Franche-Comté. Claude Romeuf de la Valette, frère aîné des précédents, allié à Flore de Fauveau en eut: 1° Jules, baron de Romeuf de la Valette, après son oncle, auteur des Mesdames Baudin et Richard de Baumefort; 2° Berthélemy, baron de Romeuf, chef d'escadron d'état major, député de la Haute-Loire, questeur du Corps législatif, sous le second Empire, d'où branche à La Voûte-Chilhac; 3° Amédée, trésorier général des finances, commandeur de la Légion d'honneur; 4° Louis, premier président de la Légion d'honneur, marié à Olympe Branche, d'où posterité fixée au château de Coudert près Paulhaguet. ...
