Su proposta 17 marzo 1825 della Magistratura Civica di Arezzo il granduca di Toscana, con Rescritto Sovrano del 4 luglio di detto anno, decorava della nobiltà aretina il celebre poeta Tommaso Sgricci, figlio di Jacopo e di Assunta Lorenzi, nato in Castiglion Fiorentino il 21 dic. 1788 da antica famiglia cittadina di Arezzo, che per la sua meravigliosa vena poetica e specialmente per le sue improvvisazioni di tragedie ("La morte di Carlo I", l' "Ettore", ecc.), aveva ottenuto trionfali successi in più Corti d'Europa e si era guadagnata la stima e la protezione della famiglia granducale toscana.
