Antica e nobile famiglia catanese, detta Arcangelo o D'Arcangelo, della quale, nell'anno del signore 1498, incontriamo uno Ximenio, onorato della carica di acatapano di Catania. Il Minutolo riferisce, poi, di un Giovanni, creato regio cavaliere e portulano di Catania da Re Ferdinando; di un Luigi, figlio del precedente, capitano di Catania nell'anno 1536-37 e padre di Alessandro, senatore di detta città nell'anno 1572-73. Da quest'ultimo, provenne: Scipione-Michele, che fu ricevuto nell'ordine di Malta. Troviamo pure un Teodoro, con la carica di capitano di Catania nell'anno 1515-16, ed un Vincenzo con quella di senatore negli anni 1561-62 e 1565-66, un Giovanni con quella di capitano della città di Caltagirone nell'anno 1456-57 ed un Lorenzo con quella di giudice della Gran Corte nell'anno 1597-98-99, 1611-12-13.
