Famiglia originaria di Varallo, poi in Torino a Moncalieri e in Savoia. Sono estinte le linee dei conti di Brandizzo e dei conti di Bassy (Savoia). Sopravvive la linea dei conti di Roccastello, il cui attacco genealogico con le linee precedenti è ignoto; ma nel 1826 fu fatta valere, per l'agnazione, la prova che essi parteciparono, nella transazione delle varie linee, col conte di Bassy. Il titolo di conte fu dato il 21 febbraio 1826 a Benedetto (nato Varallo, 15 agosto 1772; dec. 6 gennaio 1852), reggente della Valsesia (12 giugno 1815), riformatore delle scuole di Varallo (10 settembre 1837), al quale un successivo provvedimento sovrano concedeva il predicato di Roccastello (2 maggio 1837).
