La famiglia d'origine iberica stabilitasi in Lombardia durante la dominazione spagnola (1535-1698) offre un quadro interessante, avventuroso, drammatico della sua ascendenza. Alfonso de Ojeda od Hojeda nato a Cuenca nella Nuova Castiglia tra il 1466 e 1470 da distinta famiglia era paggio presso il duca di Medina Celi in casa del quale conobbe Cristoforo Colombo; da questi ottenne di accompagnarlo nel suo secondo viaggio assumendo il comando di una caravella e segnalandosi in una difficile esplorazione nell'interno dell'isola di S.
